Primary Care Weekends

Your stop for convenient medical care when your doctor isn’t available.

It’s the weekend. Family schedules have aligned. The dog is fed. It’s time for a family outing to reconnect, relax and revel in the warm spring weather. But while cruising down the nearby park’s bike path, who knew your teenage son would try that silly stunt and sprain his ankle? So, what to do? Your doctor isn’t open on the weekend and heading to an emergency department might mean a long wait or high deductible for something that isn’t life threatening.

That’s why Excela Health developed Primary Care Weekends, convenient medical care when your doctor isn’t available. With three Primary Care Weekends locations — inside Diagnostic Associates at Excela Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe; Medical Commons One, 530 South St., Suite 360, Greensburg, inside Diagnostic Associates, and Excela Square at Norwin, 8775 Norwin Ave., South Entrance, North Huntingdon — access to immediate care for non-life threatening illnesses or injuries can play an important role in your health or the health of your family.

Primary Care Weekends offers the expertise of the Excela Health Medical Group physicians and clinicians, along with easy access to x-ray, blood work and more, if needed,” said David S. Richards, MD, Executive Medical Director, Excela Health Medical Group.  “Patients can be seen for a variety of common illnesses and injuries, receive vaccines or schedule school, camp or sports physicals, among other services.”

What We Treat at Primary Care Weekends

Among those conditions seen at Primary Care Weekends: Coughs, colds, flu, sinus and ear infections, fever and sore throat, seasonal allergies, sprains, strains and broken bones, rashes and pink eye, as well as flu and pneumonia shots, Tdap shots, driver’s license physicals and more.

“Primary Care Weekends is an extension of an individual’s primary care.  It is not for life-threatening illness/injury or chronic care,” Dr. Richards said. “If people experience chest pain, coughing or vomiting blood, difficulty breathing, severe headache or any other serious health issue, they should go to the nearest hospital emergency room or call 9-1-1.”

Primary Care Weekends hours are
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Walk-ins are welcome.  Appointments are also accepted by calling
877-771-1234.
